Just finished reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Simply amazing that Jules Verne could conceive of a story with technology far ahead of it’s time. But I guess that’s just the skill of an amazing writer. Afterwards I was left wanting more, as I often am after a great book. I checked IMDb and it seems there is a remake in the works that is supposed to come out in 2012 (
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (2012)). I watched a little bit of the 1916 silent remake of the story, which apparently was an achievement in and of itself, though a little tough to get through for me (watch it in it’s entirety below, it’s public domain now). There is also the 1954 Disney remake starring Kirk Douglas and James Mason that I’ll give a try. Though from it’s description it sounds a little too, Disney.

Hey, wasn’t I supposed to have read this book about a million years ago in school? Oh well.
