Giant of Internet Radio Nears Its ‘Last Stand’ – washingtonpost.com
I’m really disappointed, no, I think upset and angry are the words that I’m looking for that Pandora looks like it will be shutting down. And likely this will be followed by the closing of Last.fm. It’s kind of amazing that the music industry (I’m not really sure whom I’m addressing) has learned next to nothing since they shut Napster down close to a decade ago (I don’t mean the new Napster either). Why does it make sense to keep users from exploring new music? I’ve listened to, added to my favorites and then purchased from iTunes several songs and albums purely because of the technology that Pandora and Last.fm provide. You know what I haven’t done? Purchased a CD from a major label in about the last five years or listened to the radio for more than five or ten minutes, a week. Blurgh. BLURGH I SAY!
