king-cornWe just finished watching King Corn. Description:

“Two recent college grads discover where America’s food comes from when they plant a single acre of corn and follow it from the seed to the dinner plate. With the help of government subsidies, genetically modified seeds and powerful herbicides, America’s most-subsidized crop becomes the staple of its cheapest – and most troubling – foods.”

I highly recommend this movie if you care even the slightest bit about what you and your family ingests on a daily basis. This isn’t a left wing, hippie, fight the power movie, not that I’d care if it was – but it’s a honest look at an industrialized crop that has taken over in the past thirty plus years. There is quite a lot of useful, enlightening and troubling information here that an informed American should be aware of.

If you have Netflix you can watch it on demand: King Corn on Netflix
